Ginkgo trees are prehistoric, with fossils dating back over 200 million years. An individual tree can live for thousands of years.  Because of this astonishing longevity, they have come to symbolize strength and endurance.  In Japan, some Ginkgo trees survived the atomic blast in Hiroshima, and are seen as a symbol of hope and resilience.
